AUDITION FOR GOODWILL

Must work local hire  |  All Roles paid  |  October 24-25  in Austin,Texas.

I am the writer and director, but more importantly, I am an actor.  I know as actors, we love to know more, so here you go:

All you need to know is that your 'character' is not auditioning.  We are simply looking for real people experiencing a real circumstance happening in real time. Don't try to guess what we want or need, because we really don't know.  Just bring your essence to the story and let it move you.  We are so ready to see these people come to life.

SHELLEY (LEAD) 40-55

Nan’s Daughter, Female, white or mixed ethnicity
Nurturing and kind, Shelley embodies loving wife/mother/daughter and takes care of the business at hand, even if it means being the unpopular one.  When met with the sharp and dry humor of her mother, She easily matches wits without calling too much attention to herself.  She knows what needs to be done, and takes care of it.  She has a sort of organized chaos about her because of all the tasks she juggles and tries to look put together on the outside to compensate.  She carries a tiny purse doesn't quite fit the amount of stuff she needs, which is slightly symbolic of her personality.  $200 per day

NATALIE (LEAD) 17-21 (to play 17)

Nan’s Granddaughter, Female, white or mixed ethnicity
A senior in high school , she is driven and ambitious. She adores her grandmother as they share the same wit and humor.  When necessary, Natalie is willing to do whatever she need’s to support someone she loves. She knows how to play the game of “uninterested teen,” but deep down, she’s as selfless and loving as her own mother. $200 per day

RYAN (SUPPORTING) 30-40

Sr. Resident Living Coordinator, Male, Any ethnicity
Ryan is all smiles, all the time.  He enjoys his job at Briarhaven Senior Living Community and welcomes residents and visitors with the same warmth he gives his own grandmother (who happens to live on property.)  He is truly interested in the stories of his residents and who they are as humans which lends to Ryan being wise beyond his years. He is sincere and compassionate, giving a sense of security during difficult times of transition. $180 per day

Nan, 65-75 (already cast)
Nan's character information is here to help actors understand the dynamics of the full cast.

Independent, funny and full of wit, she prefers living alone. She adores her garden, her home and her family. Widowed 3 years prior, Nan is a feisty, quick-witted woman with no intentions of letting go of her autonomy… or her stuff. Like the flowers in her garden, she seems robust and strong, but remaining vulnerable to the hands of time and the elements of the seasons.
